Video games have always been a passion of mine. When I was young I was always amazed by the slightest invention that was presented as the newest technology. Pong blew my mind, then came Pac Man and there went my Saturdays as a kid. I would chase Inky, Blinky, Pinky, and Cylde through that maze all day with my friends and we would boost for what seemed like ever about our high scores.
I would go home and create games that I hoped would help me to get into designing games, that path lead me to my job working with The Hershey’s Shake Shoppe and Primetime Arcade as the “Ring Master” of an arcade in Seaside Height New Jersey. It is the best job I ever had as nothing beats the sound of children laughing and family’s having fun. I am in heaven.
Now since I started working I have been amazed at the new technology that these games offer for example the very popular ticket/redemption game “Fruit Ninja” that is based from the popular flash game of the same name. The game allows for total interaction with the screen as instead of using the mouse as your sword you use your hand and swipe the screen. The fruit flies in all directions as the kids and adults alike swing their hands wildly trying to slice it all. It is one of the most popular games we have at the Shake Shoppe Arcade in Seaside Heights New Jersey.
Interaction with the game is the key to keep the audience coming back to play as the arcade industry is in competition with itself to a point. To be successful you have to be able to offer the kids something they cannot do at home on their personal game controller. Most new arcade games being offered are like this, things the kids do at home and then at the arcade can play on a different level.
Cut the Rope is also a new prize crane that offers the same excitement as the computer version that it was based from, but with the exception the gamer can now actually win more than just a score. The prizes in this game run from 5.00 – 300.00 and the level of difficulty is set with a simple disk. Winners are important to any successful arcade. If no one wins they will not play anymore. This game creates winners for the player and the arcade.
I would like to mention that the prize games are fun and all enjoy the chance of winning a prize for only a dollar, but my favorite game is the shooting games, like Terminator Salvation. I LOVE THIS GAME! When people ask me what is the best game we have I always tell them about the trills of becoming John Conner and saving the human race from the machines. I like to coax the parent to play with the child as this creates a found memory for the family and isn’t that what it is all about, making memories that will bring happiness to the family for years to come and return customers for you.
At Primetime Amusements we love this industry, we live it, we breathe it, and we are very good at what we do. If you are looking to set up your dream we can make it happen. With a full assortment of games from all categories we set you up with everything to make your dream business come true as well.
